Catherine Demarin (she/her): I began exploring meditation at the Green Gulch Zen Center while living in West Marin County in my late teens and early twenties. I’ve studied with teachers of engaged Buddhism including Thich Nhat Hanh, Joanna Macy, Joan Halifax and Michael Stone. These wonderful humans have guided me through life and inspired me to share the teachings with others. I began practicing yoga with a passion in 1998. I practice and teach various therapeutic styles of yoga (Viniyoga, Integrative Yoga Therapy, Functional & Structural Yoga Therapy and Yoga Tune-Up.) I’ve helped students learn how to use yoga to support themselves through a number of health and living challenges including cancer, multiple sclerosis, muscle and joint pain and surgery. I try to incorporate mindfulness into every class with a focus on helping students to cultivate self-awareness and insight. When we know when to pause, feel and breath in any situation we are given a few moments of freedom. We develop our awareness, endurance, strength and resilience through yoga. I believe our practice in yoga class helps us to share these blessings and appreciate the wonder of life together!
